COURSE OVERVIEW

In the first portion of this course, you will learn the ins and outs of design from understanding the history of fashion and trends to working on your skills to design concepts from mood boards through to creating two mini ranges of your choice. Putting your designs on paper where you will work on developing a fashion template. You will go through to process and learn how to identify and choose fabrics to fit your range as well as looking into sourcing suppliers and or production.

Starting off in the fashion industry can be a challenging process, especially if you're new to this industry. This program is ideal for anyone who wants to design and launch their own fashion label from scratch.

In the second portion of this course you will receive guidance from our qualified trainers and mentors on how to:

- Develop your designs
- Integrate concepts and produce a toile or sample
- Create/modify production patterns for selected garments to send to manufacturers
- Send patterns away for production of selected styles
- Sample and fit styles
- Research and set up garment manufacturing and comply with standards and requirements

In addition to the fashion specific design modules, this program focuses on business management topics that will provide you with the skills and knowledge to launch or run a fashion business and achieve your desired business goals.

You will be guided on how to set up and start a small fashion business, choosing your business structure, setting up templates and documents such as invoices and financial tracking, software and Insurance. You will also discover a range of business management planning tools and strategies, including how to develop a business plan for your existing or a new fashion business.

Upon completion you will feel confident to get your business off the ground for the best chance of success.

HOW IT WORKS

As a 100% ONLINE or DISTANCE student, you will have full access to our Online Learning Centre, which contains course material created by industry experts. These include: videos, written content, activities and assignments. Support is available throughout the duration of the course: phone, email or by zoom. HOW REMOTE ONLINE LEARNING WORK? Once you've enrolled, students receive access to a library of weekly instructional videos. All learning content is beautifully curated in magazine style topic PDF files which are filed topic by topic and week by week. All activities, tasks, projects and so on are completed or submitted in the portal. Simply upload a document and hit submit. In addition to the user friendly online platform you can contact any of our mentors/trainers 24/7 if you have a question or are interested in booking in for a support session over the phone or via zoom. What about practical tasks and learning? Throughout the year, our students are given opportunities to get hands on experience working with labels, brands, on photoshoots, or on events such as; Miss Universe, Eurovision or with Celebrity Stylists for the TV Week Logies. This is in addition to the practical tasks and projects that students complete during the course, meaning ACA students graduate work ready with a CV that shows experience!
